Nikon d700 values

Hi , I've been contemplating upgrading to fx for a little while and always fancied a d700 but I have also noticed that a d600 can be had for probably about another £100 , question is ,is the d700 a better option than the d600 as the s/h values seem to be holding there money very well when I would have thought with the d600/800 as the newer models this may have had an effect on the 700's s/h prices , where as my d300 which has been a great performer is now dropping in value that it's best option now is to probably keep it as a back up any advise welcome thanks
 
I'd go for the D610. Super little camera. Layout is not at the same pro level... no AF-On button for example. It's part plastic, and the AF targets are closely bunched, but quality of sensor is utterly superb. Technically, so far as image quality is concerned, it's way ahead of the D700. The D700 is a proper pro body with great layout and ergonomics however.
 
D600 - newer technology, better sensor and IQ (I think ISO performance too, although the D700 is great), smaller (if you like that).
D700 - Better AF, better build quality, layout, bigger (I prefer bigger to smaller).
 
I've had both. I shot weddings with my D700 then bought a D600 as a "backup". Soon it became my primary due to the dual slots, quieter shutter and better IQ. AF is supposedly better on D700 but in practice I rarely noticed it.

In the end my D700 just sat there unloved so I sold it and got another D600. For £100 difference I'd definitely get the D600. If you are a perfectionist and don't want to be cleaning your sensor though get the D610.

I'm actually the opposite. I'd happily shoot all day long with MFT/CSC cameras if they were up to the job. I see nothing good about lugging around 2 huge DSLR's just because they look & feel "professional"

Its more that I just like the feel, and with 2.8 glass it actually balances well.
 
Having handled the D600/610 considerably and owning the D700, I just could not accept the lesser 'build to a budget' quality of the D600/610, the D700 is a pro quality DSLR, whereas the D600/610 looks and feels very plasticy. As regards image quality well that's another question, technology moves on and the sensor in the D610 is right upto date. I would not consider the D600 after all the oil on sensor problems, that's why the D610 was 'created' and Nikon were really poor in the way they handled their customers concerns, never have admitted the problem o_O

Decisions, decisions...you pays your money and :rolleyes:
