Nikon D700 £1,569

Are they actually based in the UK? I don't think they have a shop, and what little seems to be known about them when I check online is that the equipment comes from Hong Kong and the website is registered in Canada (see below). Would you trust them? I wouldn't unless I can find out more....

Kerso ... I think

and offer in store collection.

I have been researching d700 prices and this seamed like a good deal when people are paying £1,400 for used ones without warranty.

I haven’t dealt with Kerso but I think his stuff is also imported as well and I guess doesn’t come with a 3 year warranty.

I'm buying mine from Kerso and they come with a one year warranty which, for me, is fine. I have mine serviced annually because they do get through some work and if they need an occasional repair then that's all part of ownership to me.

My 1DsII is with Canon at the moment being serviced and having a new focus screen fitted. It's not a huge bill to take care of them properly and I've always thought that these extended warranties were not worth it because they always try to wriggle out of them anyway!

As far as I know Nikon UK only offer a two year one, not three?

Well, I just set up an account with them and their website doesn't even work properly. So even if they are a legit company, they aren't doing anything right except offering cheap prices. (EDIT - I take that back. It's now working after a glitch -- still a badly designed site though)

As for the office, unless you have visited their office and seen stock, I'd doubt very much that they offer a proper collection service. What is likely though, is that they rent office space to deal with order queries using a UK address and tel number but ship equipment from HK after it has been paid for.

He's not too far off that price though :)

Yes, that's true, but I'm trying to get some evidence for the UK £1599 price claimed above. It actually irks me when people make throwaway claims like that. And it won't help Kerso sell his at £1650 (or whatever) if someone is saying its cheaper elsewhere. I'd much prefer to see the claim dismissed so that people do go with Kerso...

I thought the whole point of the forum was to highlight deals and I really wish I hadn’t bothered now I just seem to have got a load of neg. for my trouble.

I have emailed HDEW last week and they were happy for me to collect and pay for the goods on collection.

Thanks for the link... they are not to far from me, seem to have some history and keen prices.

You have got a load of neg.? There is nothing personal here, it's called discussion...

I'd be interested to here your personal anecdote though, if and when you decide to purchase from them

Doh!!! The £1599 is the price for a VRII 70-200 Nikon - how I got confused with a D700 is beyond me!!!

It's called "getting over-excited"

Now put....... your........ credit....... card..... down..... and...... back..... away....... from..... the..... computer :p

RUN AWAY. would not touch with a 30 foot barge pole. do a search and you'll see why.

Yup I know, but it was the first hit for that product at that sort of price (95p over, in fact).
