Hopefully upgrading to the Nikon D610 from a Pentax K5 mainly to concentrate more on landscape work. Hope to be using the Nikon 16-35 F4 lens, the reviews seem quite favourable for this lens and look to purchase the Nikon 24-120 F4 later. I use CS5 for editing do the NEF files open OK into bridge and then CS5?

I use a 16-35 on a D700 and absolutely love it! Pretty much all my landscape work on my flickr is with this lens.

Can't comment on CS5 as I use Lightroom5 :)

CS5 will not open D610 NEF files

Adobe Lightroom 5.3 and Camera RAW/DNG Converter 8.3 (CS6) support the Nikon D610 as of December 12, 2013.

As for the lens, I find I use the 16-35mm more than the 14-24mm, It is pin sharp and you can use normal Lee filters with the 16-35

Hope this helps

Robbi

The d610 files WONT open in cs5. Youl need to either upgrade or convert to dng 1st. I have to do that currently as I cant open the nefs

Yes I know, used the sons Nikon D3200 took some shots and tried to open, no luck. Have now got the latest version of LR. Sorted.

Followed a similiar route.. upgraded from the K5 to the D800 a few months ago and use the 16-35F4 for most of my landscapes.. it's a great lens, I also recently bought a 24-120F4 but havent used it much yet

Cannot afford the D800 but hope to get the same lenses that you have. Do you find the quality a large jump from the K5 ?

From the K5 to the D800 definitely, the detail the D800 sensor captures is very impressive, that's not to say the K5 was poor as I thoroughly enjoyed using it. One of the things I've noticed is that wide angle on full frame (16mm) somehow seems a much more comfortable focal length to shoot at than the crop sensor equivalent on the K5. I can't really explain this but even though I had a 12mm lens ( = 18mm FF) with the K5 I rarely used it so wide, I find I want to use 16mm with the D800 all the time

Simon

Thanks Simon.
