After the demise of my beloved D90 :'( I am looking at taking the possibility of upgrading and have my sights set on a D600.

Have hunted around and very tempted by the HDEW price of £1260 for the body. I've already searched, regarding HDEW and see that TP's find the company to be very reliable

Just wondering if any fellow TP'ers had any alternative suppliers to watch or notice of any forthcoming price drops (highly unlikely I know).

Thanks,

John

All good then?

If I do buy the camera from HDEW cameras, are there any particular questions I should be asking or anything specific I should get confirmed?

Ask for a vat receipt. They can supply them when requested but don't unless asked.

Bought my D600 from HDEW and the service was fantastic. Very helpful on the phone and took about 5 days from order. Had to return a 50mm 1.8d because of purple haze in centre of optic(common problem) and the turnaround was 3 days and they refunded my postage. Would happily use them again and probably will sooner than later:)

Ordered the camera on Friday, rang today, they stated that it should be sent out tomorrow for Friday.

Excited :D

I am a little worried about HDEW in case they are selling grey imports. The reason for this is Nikon usually offer a 2 year warranty on their cameras but this company is only offering 1 year. This 1 year warranty is the standard international warranty and they are offering their own one as an extra.

This is not normal Nikon practice as far as I am aware and when the warranty runs out getting a repair may be difficult.

I would strongly suggest asking about this point before purchase, I am be wrong but something doesn't seem right.

Doesnt everyone know they are a grey importer?! Its the only way they can offer stock so cheap.

Strangely, their price has increased, since the Nikon cashback promotion, now £1275 instead of £1260. Given this, it's as cheap to go via someone like WEX, get quidco cashback and the price is roughly the same.

I am on the lookout for the D600 also but it does seem like the cash back deal voids any grey import savings at the moment. Does anyone know what's happened to Panamoz? I was ready to buy for 1085 but no response by email etc. are they out of business??
