Nikon D600 Weather Resistance?

Just now, we had a pretty crazy flash storm with lots of rain. After reading the other weather resistance thread, I ran a search for "24-85 weather resistance" and this popped up...

Obviously we don't see any aftermath of this but can I expect that my D600 with 24-85mm lens would hold up quite well to a shower if I need it to?
 
You'd have to also ensure that the lens is weather-sealed.

Why take the risk? Just buy an Optech raincover.

According to the Nikon site, the lens features:

"Weather-sealed rubber lens mount"

If this would save me carrying around extra gear/extra expense, it may be a benefit. Plus as it's a zoom lens, wouldn't the cover hamper operation of the zoom/manual focus rings?

No problem dealing with a zoom lens.
 
The "Weather-sealed rubber lens mount" is ONLY at the mount so seals the lens to the body - what about all the other little gaps between zoom and focus rings, VR switches etc.? As far as I know they are not sealed at all.

+1 for the Optech rain sleeve - always got at least one in my bag:thumbs:

& funnily enough I got the exact same thing on Thursday (ordered on Wednesday) & that's now in my bag for those moments...
 
I don't understand that video. What does it prove, that it's possible to put a camera under a shower? I think we already knew that.

It doesn't give any indication of whether the camera was fine or junk afterwards...
