Nikon D600 / D610 Official Users thread - Anything D6x0 related

Have bitten the bullet and ordered a d600 from HDEW to work alongside my d7100 - I shall mainly use the Nikon 24-70 and 105 macro . Not sure about the Tamron 70-300 VC (anyone tried that on FF?).

Anyway , I shall report my experience of both the 600 against the 7100 and what HDEW are like to deal with (price is good for 600 right now)

70-300 VC is not bad - but to be fair I'm no more than someone who likes playing around with complicated things so im sure you could get very good results.

I found it well balanced with the body and no focus issues etc!

A very strange thread. Supposedly about the D610, but little in it about that camera.

Just noticed CPB have the D600 at £1099 at Wilkinson Cameras (£1108.49 inc postage), this seems a like a great deal

Getting close to a price I can afford one - £1049 at PC world and Currys.

Strangely, the Body only option has disappeared from Jessops website.

might as well get the D800 for a few £ more

Nikon D610 FX DSLR (Body Only) - £1799.00

Nikon D800 FX D-SLR -£1,949.00

Surely as soon as all new D600s are sold the price of a new D610 will drop to around £1300-£1400

Hi Harry - any specific lens you are VERY pleased with ? also anyone with the 24-70 - any comment ? best FL aperture etc tips (its my most expensive lens so want to get thebestfrom it)

Picked one at Jessops - D600 with Kit 24-85 VR lens at £1349. Quidco should give back £20

£1330 for a D600 + Kit lens seems good price. Can't see the item on Jessops anymore. had a chat with Nikon today and was informed that D600 is discontinued. I am sure all retailers are clearing stock now or have returned stock to pile up D610 for a better margin.

Hope mine turns up dust free.

Thought I would better post here from now

I have 3 FX lenses - 50 F1.8G 85 f1.8G and the Tamron 70-300 VC USD.

Jessops don't actually have the D600, incase anyone was interested.

Yes it is no longer showing on their site. I was lucky to get mine on time. The same thing is happening at some other retailers.

Such a good price right now. Just not good for anyone who wanted to sell 2nd hand.

Hello all, Canon user here.

After reading the reviews of the 6D V the D600, on a whim I purchased the D600 with kit lens (24-85mm VC) for £1350. It looks like there is a bit of a firesale going on with the D610 just around the corner.

What I want to know is, have I done the right thing (before I open it!)?

Have I got a good deal or are there better out there?

Is the kit lens toilet and will I have to replace it with something straight away? If so, what would I get for the kit lens if I sold it?

Im looking for a nice 35/50mm F1.4 as I will miss my Canon one - which lenses should I be looking at?

Am I asking too many questions?

Thanks!

I'd say that was a decent enough price. The kit lens is pretty decent and won't let you down but it really depends on what you are wanting to use it for.

The nikkor 50mm f1.4 G is very decent, but unless you must have 1.4 the 50mm f1.8G is just about as good and it focuses faster. I really like the older 50mm f1.4D though and they work extremely well on the D600.

It seems the Siggy 35mm is the lens everyone is raving about, not tried one so can't really comment much, another option is the nikkor 28mm f1.8G which is nice.

I get surprisingly nice results from an old Nikon 35-105 macro
not fast, not new but comes out really nice.

I am currently trying to get a sigma 35mm 1.4 - and will most likely just keep that on at all times and try and improve my technique and framing and stop blaming the lens :)

Such a good price right now. Just not good for anyone who wanted to sell 2nd hand.

I sold mine just in the nick of time and could actually buy a brand new one with some pennies to spare with what I got for it..... very lucky.

I have ordered a D600, but this is for people who are after a D610.

D610 is listed at £1799 in UK on all sites and some offering a free battery, bag etc.

Amazon has dropped the preorder price by £200 to £1599 and they are offering the optional Wireless adapter WU-1B free as a promotion.

The Amazon price is not showing in Camerapricebuster.

Even at £1599, this is still ridiculously expensive than US list price of $1999. £1599 is equal to $2550.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature....d_t=201&pf_rd_p=434081487&pf_rd_i=B00FPSPAMQS

I am sure it will drop further soon to compete with the 6D as D600 is discontinued.

Even at £1599, this is still ridiculously expensive than US list price of $1999.

To get a fair comparison you have to subtract VAT from the UK price... it gets a lot closer then. I suspect the £1999 US price is before their sales tax is added anyways...

£1599 - VAT = £1332.50 = $2125

Also, the US price is without sales tax.

I think I've found my dream combo in the D600 and Nikon 180mm 2.8, I was shocked and very pleasantly surprised how small the 180 was when it arrived, will comfortably fit in my small Crumpler, unlike a 70-200 2.8.

That and the 28mm 1.8 will be going to NYC with me soon, can't wait, been there many many times but never with a FF camera with so many bells and whistles.

Took it for a spin in the park this morning...

Nice image! I'm going to give the Tamron 28-75 a go I think.

I'm thinking of getting this camera. I currently have a D7000 and 99% of the time use my 300mm afs f4. I just wonder if this lens would be better on a D600 and it would allow me to grow into fx at a relative cheap price. I'm a Billy no mates when it comes to photography and I've never tried a fx camera.

Chris - did you have problems with the 600 that made you sell ? oil/dust etc or why were you not happy

I sold it mainly as I thought I wanted something smaller, but having picked up an EM5 I'm finding it difficult to adjust. I thought that switching to a compact system would be easier (especially on holiday) but I think I should have just bought a light zoom (24-85) in stead...

I did have some dust, wasn't a drama getting it cleaned via the Nikon Repair Centre in Glasgow but a pain.

I miss the OVF and the large files giving me plenty of scope for cropping and post processing.

I also miss my Sigma 35mm f1.4 which is the best lens I've ever used - I love the 35mm viewpoint, I'm going to keep an eye out for the D600 price drop but I think having had some of the dust issue would potentially keep me away from another, D610 would be the best option (particularly as I've still got a Nikon lens!)

However cost wise the Canon 6D would be a better option.....

The combination of D600 and Nikkor 24-70 2.8 is awesome. I have a 70-200 and a 16-35 f4 VR but it is the 24-70 that I mainly use on my D600.
Great quality even at 2.8.

I use the 24-70 f/2.8 as well as the 70-200 f/2.8 on my 600 .. I like them both, but at a distance (which is where I try to shoot from) I keep the 70-200 in close reach most of the time. Love the nikon glass!

If this camera is released, surely they will need to offer at least some new features, otherwise they'd be effectively admitting the issue with the D600.

Maybe they'll give us D600 a new D610 for free

I doubt that, but if they offer it, someone please fill me in via PM, lol

Will most likely be sending mine in for a clean this week. If they happen to return a D610 I'll let you know

Don't think there will be many D600's left on the shelves at current prices. Think its a complete bargain right now.

I just need to afford more glass!

D600 all packed up, ready to go back to Nikon, in the morning. Hopefully it will not take long to clean, etc.
