hi guysim new to this hobby or this is my first dslr camera.

i want to know wether i should use the the viewfinder or lcd.? each mode looks different to me.

when on the viewfinder mode it shows in the lcd screen ... it shows if i select af-area mode> i can choose single point af or auto area af

when taking pics in the lcd mode if i choose af area mode> it shows face priority, wide, normal or subject tracking af

now as you can see it shows different types of setting for the same sunject(AF area mode).why is that?

another thing when i take photos in parties in viewfinder mode i can see the camera focusing on many points in forms of little red squares.
but when i take photos in lcd mode the lcd dosent shows the camera focusing with lots of little red squares, it only shows it focusing on peoples faces/.

thanks guys

Live view (the lcd) is set up to work completely differently to the viewfinder to account for differing ergonomics of each mode.

I'd not use live view unless you have a specific need for it, the lcd drains the battery and there is noticeable shutter lag in that mode. Best stick to the viewfinder until you're more comfortable with the camera, its how slr cameras were designed to be used. When you're using it more you'll come across time when you'll need to use the screen and its differing modes.

thanks.

i prefer taking photos in viewfinder mode .i feel like a snipershooter for sure. fast and accurate.

does the camera take different photos in lcd mode compared to photos taken in viewfinder mode???? or they just the same?

also while im here i am just uploading photos to a website for printing and im just uploading all my favourite jpegs. ones ..ive learnt a lot about raw but to be honest im just going to delete them as i have no need for them *** my camera takesgreat photos as it is.I see people making a big deal about raw files thats because the like to work them, but for me jpegs are just fine.

one thing i still need someone to answer is does the camera take different photos in lcd mode compared to photos taken in viewfinder mode???? or they just the same?

i know it sounds like a stupid question to all you pros out there.but im a beginner OR maybe i actuallyam asking a dumb question ... not quite sure to be honest!

No its exactly the same. The light end up at the sensor still, just takes a different route.

If JPEG works for you, there's no point in complicating things in normal circumstances by saving raw as well. TBH, I wouldn't delete the raw files you already have unless you need the HDD space - it's worth having a play with them (if you have the software) to see if you can get an improvement over the in camera conversion.

The photos your camera will take will be the same in VF and liveview modes but it will use different types of AF. The AF system it uses in VF mode is generally faster and more accurate than the live view system.

No harm in asking questions (and yours aren't that dumb compared to many that get asked here!), most of us are generally happy to help if we can - we all started somewhere!
