Hi,

Anyone got advice on which remote will work with a Nikon D5000?

The manual mentions a wireless one and a wired one, which would be the preferred one?

Confusingly, when I've looked on amazon etc they don't seem to mention the D5000 as a compatible camera :suspect:

Also is if worth getting a Nikon one or will the unbranded (much cheaper) ones be ok.

Thanks in advance.
Paul.

According to Nikon it is compatible with the ML-L3 wireless remote which does not support bulb mode (its basically for taking a picture with you in it) and the MC-DC2 wired remote which allow bulb-mode.

If you are looking to eliminate camera shake when using a tripod I would go for the wired remote, you have to reach around to the front of the camera (where the sensor is) with the infra-red remote.

I've used a Phottix plato radio remote with my D300 which gives you the best of both worlds (you can fire the camera without needing the remote to be facing the front of the camera).

Thanks Jim, the Phottix looks to be the one, I'm off to source one now.
Cheers
