Having just received my Nikon D500, (I know I said I wouldn't ), it's time to go through initial camera familiarisation and setup again!
I know there are a few new Nikon D500 users out there and some of you have had yours for a while so maybe you have ironed out some quirks or found ways to do this or that.
If you think anything might be useful for a new user, please post your hints & tips here :)

My first tip is that there is a new firmware update (1.02) available for download which is designed to address the issue that some users experienced with Lexar SD UHII cards but maybe there are some other fixes we are not told about :)

Thanks Mike I will take a look ... oh and me and my big mouth, I might have known I would cave in! :D

Tip #1 - For BBF users:

Programme the joystick Press to AF-On.

Using BBF means moving your thumb off the button to move the focus points around the viewfinder, so creating a delay ... if you programme the joystick to AF-On when pressed in, then you can move the focus points around and then press it to focus, without having to move your thumb :)

i bought Thom Hogans book Gramps 900 pages very useful and lots of tips and tricks in that.
Myself i don't use BBF but one of the good tips was to have the Joystick press be centre focus and BBF button for group, so you can quickly switch, ive recently gone back to half press as I'm new to all the malrky and its how i prefer to roll...
