Good morning all. I have a new D40 which i thoroughly enjoy, but in the last batch of pics i took, there are what appears to be dust specks on the images on 3 specific places. I have cleaned the lens thoroughly but they specs are still there. Sometimes they are more sharply focused than others, but this is due to what the focal length of the lens seems to be set at.

Could this be dust specs on the image sensor itself? is this common and is there a way to clean the sensor or to check if there are any dust particles on there?

As a DLSR newbie, i would appreciate any help on this matter.
Thanks
Garry

It'll be on the sensor probably, it is common and there are plenty of ways to clean the sensor, best bet at this stage is probably a rocket blower :)

This sounds like dust on the sensor. 1st job is to get a blower and see if you can shift it. if you follow this link http://www.warehouseexpress.com/ it will take you to the various products available. Also, be wary of this http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=20456
