Hi Guys,

I feel like saying Merry Christmas looking out of the window but I am looking for something to shoot Macro with. I currently have a Nikkor VR 18-55 and a Tamron LD Macro 70-200 but I am looking for something to take photographs of insects/flowers and the like.

I have heard pros and cons about tubes and lenses so wondered what you would all suggest here.

Thanks
Nicky

Can't comment on the Tamron, with if you put a Kenko extension tube on the 18-55 VR it'll still meter, autofocus and maintain VR,and with a 36mm tube, you can get quite close to 1:1 reproduction ratio.

The tubes are quite price though.

Thanks puddleduck ... thats a good idea. :) I will have a look !

These will work:

As the 18-55 VR is a "G" lens ideally you want to be able to control the aperture and stop down, and you can do that with these.

Most tubes are manual all the way, and you have no way to stop a "G" lens down without an aperture ring.

I'm not recommeding them per se - I did have a set and they were fine - but it'll work fine with your 18-55 VR.

Thanks, thats good to know :)
