nikon d40 graph?

my dad has a d40 and somehow he's managed to get a yellow graph on all the picture he takes, dont think they show up on the pictures when they are transfered to computer but you cant really see what pictures you've taken cos of the graph! he was playing and pressing buttons to try see what the camera could do! anyone know how to remove this?

Sounds like a histogram, use the multi selector to cycle through the options till it clears.

the circular botton the back, pressing it up or down [or if that does scrolling through imgaes], left ot right

Yes I have the D40X and I found that bit too. You do just get the pictures up on the LCD screen and use the up/down buttons until it has gone
It may be useful for him to know that by using the up/down button he can also view what settings were used to take that shot, so if he wanted he can check what shutter/aperture and ISO were used.

The histogram is a good thing!
It's the only way you can tell on the tiny LCD if the image is over or underexposed.
