Hello to you all from a newcomer.
Knowing that there is always a great cross-section of users on forums, does anyone know of the anticipated release of the Nikon D4?

Availability of D3s models have just resumed in plentiful supplies in London dealers. I am about to part with £3,600 for a new body only.
Over the weekend, I have been thinking that perhaps if D3s supplies have resumed, then the inevitable release of it's successor may also be imminent.

One dealer has murmured that they have had a notification but wouldn't be more forthcoming.

Appreciate any views other than projection or rumour.
All in the strictest confidence of course!

Regards

Hi,

What camera are you using at the moment? I would say that if you have no massively pressing need to upgrade then wait for the D4. But maybe brace yourself for when you see the price...:eek:

Reading the various rumour sites they seems equally divided between an August launch and some time next year. If I had to put money on it I'd bet on next year - not that I have *any* inside information at all...

If you have no camera at the moment then any camera is better than nothing: the D3s will be a stunning camera to use, and will continue to be a stunning camera for many years to come - I have a D3 and I absolutely love it to bits...

HTH!

BR Jez.

P.S. I would say welcome to the forum, but I've only been here a few days myself and I would feel like a fraud!!! ;);)

Cheers Jez - I don't normally procrastinate about buying gear - but on this occasion I feel that I'm buying in at the wrong time on this particular model.
However...I'm going to get it Friday. Make sense of that?
A small part of my work is PR/Social and the high ISO of the D3s is ideal. I'm still using D14n's and they are now showing their age and lack of firmware support. Great full frame cameras though.

I shoot an H3DII-39 and an H4D50MS. Cameras only shoot RAW and I use Phocus to process them to TIFF before loading to PS.

Thanks for your comments..I'm usually the one telling everybody else to hold onto the tiger once you've jumped on its back!!
