Nikon D3xxx owners thread

Went to the Wales Rally GB at the weekend and lent my 14 year old my d500 to play with for an hour. Rookie mistake as now he realises that his d3100 has a few things missing that he'd like, one of which is wifi..another is more fps..better in low light...etc etc

A ( very ) quick Google implies the d3400 has snapbridge - does it actually work ? I know that snapbridge is pretty flakey

You can use Nikon WMU with it I believe.

Ok whose using the free DXO besides Ben?
Im finding it a useful add on to apple photos, dont need anything else to be honest

I also bought as opposed to the free program above the apple photos ext app from DXO that was about a tenner, it does the essentials but its nice to have that free DXO pro 11 for more detailed editing if you dont want to use say apple photos editing section

just before I said goodbye to my friend who had accompanied me today I said look at that plastic heron, they have a plastic one about 2 miles further down the canal, well I took a shot because I had zoomed in on it before I realised it was plastics never went any closer although a thought did pass my mind to just get closer just to be sure.anyway he rang me a bit later to say it was a real one. DAM!! should have gone in closer and took a decent shot but at least I have a record of it :)

Yep - exactly the lens I've been thinking about. How do you find it?

This is my D3300 with the 50mm 1.8D on it. Not much bigger than a compact.
It does take good photos, but it can be hard work if subject is moving. I only tend to use it for inert objects, or when doing video as manual is the better option. The focus ring is not silky smooth, and does have a slight draggy feel to it. But they can be picked up pretty cheaply second hand, and you wont lose should you wish to sell it on.

I use all my old film lenses on the D3300 body, taking photos can be hit and miss focus wise. But all the lenses are great in video mode.
