the Nikon is much lighter apparently with good sharpness and not too bad distortion at widest,PP sort that.I had the Sigma 10-20mm that I used on my old bodies, D60 and D80. I found the images a little too distorted at times, but great for beach shots with fluffy white clouds stretching far into the distance. I also found the lens too heavy, I soon sold it on, as I had too much money tied up in it. I can't even remember what I did with the money, probably gave most of it to the missus.
Agreed and i use wrist strap too and its light to me.Been out with the D3300 this morning with the 35mm fitted.
The D3300 with the kit lens fitted, is not that much bigger than some bulky compacts. In some cases the D3300 may be smaller. I have added a wrist strap to mine, and I am treating it as a bulky compact with a great sensor, at very low cost.

. I can't get my dog to keep still long enough, she always runs when I get the camera out.

yes I have an Ixus 115 but as I said shall carry my camera bag now, cant get it in my shirt pocket though lol
Yep superb sensor, I am amazed by the quality of the images, even at very high ISO. I too wont be getting rid of it anytime soon. Besides, what would you replace it with? I am done with parting with big money for cameras.

You'll find good lenses make a much bigger difference with the sensor already in your camera!

if you shoot moving objects a lot then a more advanced focusing system e.g. in the D7200 would be helpful, image quality wise you wouldn't notice given the same conditions. oh and bracketing, lens Micro adjustment.ability to use older lenses and have auto focus rather than just manual.if these are important to you then they can make the experience easier ,
agreed, better lenses can get even more out of the excellent sensor,I wouldn't say a tremendous difference but according to DXO marks you might see some difference,

Can I join in? Bit like mixing the D3300 and D5200 in terms of model numbers...
That would be my thinking Richard ,another option would be a layer mask or more simply in LR say using the filter thingamajig lol. Or like me enjoy the capture as you took it,its art
