Tokay would you take the chance to buy the nikon D3x or wait for the next génération to come ?????

Neither I'd buy SONY :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Les

Ps why have you tagged this Not Safe For Work????

The D800 supposedly will sport 36MP. So if you're after resolution, that might be the way to go.

Alternatively, the Sony A850/900 has the same sensor as the D3x for a lot less dough.

No it doesn't, it has a similar sensor, but it's not identical.

Nikon Rumours is stating a very strong likelihood that the next generation of Nikon Pro cameras will be announced on the 6th January, so I would wait a while :)

As a D3x user, I'd have been tempted to answer this if it wasn't tagged NSFW.....

I somehow doubt it will be 36Mpx no matter what some people say. 18-24Mpx probably and I would guess closer to the 18.....

I might be wrong but I doubt it.

Wait for the next generation, the D3X price is only going to go down in the meantime.

They stated the same for dates in October, November and December as well. They have to be right eventually

He's usually got his excuses ready well in advance for when things (as is normal) don't pan out how "with 99% certainty" he claimed they would

Just a couple of things.
The new D800 and the D4 both are not replacement for the D3x.
The D4 is the replacement for the D3s
And the D800,is more of a camera to take on the Canon 5DmkII,than a direct replacement for the D700.
The D3x replacement not is due till the end of 2012 :)

From what I gather the D3x hasn't exactly been flying off the shelves, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is just quietly dropped and Nikon's range get's rejigged to mirror Canon's - one Full-frame "pro" body and one higher MP "semi-pro" one.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped the d3x either. I wonder though why Nikon feel the need to compete head to head with the canon line up. It wasn't as though the d700 lost out to the 5d ii in terms of sales or market share

True, however the D800 is going to have to be at least a match for whatever Canon are planning for the 5DIII, which probably explains the rumours of 36mp, or whatever, sensors. Actually, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if the "D800" specs floating around are actually those for the 5DIII....

I think something might be announced for the PMA in Vegas, January 8-12th.

reading all the rumours it does seem to lots of people displeasure that the d800 will be a 5d3 competitor not a shrunk d4, like the d700 was to the d3.

going for high mp and lower iso preformance

Thing is, we don't actually know. The D800 (if that is even what it will be called) might be a smaller D4 we will just have to wait till it is launched.

The specs, price etc etc are all up in the air as is it's launch date.

My feeling as well :)
