Nikon D3x Woes

...and whereas in the recent past you could tell the difference between shots taken on a D1, a D1x and a D2x, now you can't...
At the resolutions I work at, I can barely distinguish images taken on my D3 and D3x...colours are the same, rendering is the same.
Only when I pixel-peep can I tell one from another...so for all practical purposes, my D3 is good enough...and will be for the forseeable future...

There was also no appreciable difference betweeen some test shots taken on a D5000 and my D3 a few months back (at the size I usually end up with after P&P).

Buying decisions will now have more to do with the camera's physical and mechanical features, rather than IQ...

I wonder how many people have all singing, all dancing DSLRs and use them for e-bay shots and other net use so only really need a 1/2 decent compact?

I think things are going to slow down drastically from now on actually...
The massive leaps in technology have plateau'd, so to speak...I think future models will have some very minor tweaks with regards mechanical advances - the major steps forward will be issued as firmware updates...and you don't need new bodies to do that...
We've got so used to seeing new cameras every two years or so, with sub-model upgrades every 12 or 18 months...
Remember in pre-film days, Canon and Nikon only released new Pro cameras every ten years or so...

I think we'll soon be back to that kind of advance...maybe 5-yearly upgrades...

Oh well we can all live in hope looks like I'll be keeping my D3 for a very long time then

Nice one!

I've gone all bicameraal again (happened a while back).....to the point that I am a whisker away from pressing the paypal button to a Canon 500D.....to compliment my Nikkor 600mm AIS ED. And my D5000 of course - cracking little beast. :)

Oh, its is strictly ONLY bicameral...nothing else has changed. ;)

Of course for any Nikon owners wishing to experiene what it's like to shoot with a Canon I can lend them my Nikon->Canon conversion kit

simply drag across the sensor and as if by magic people will think you have a swapped to Canon :naughty: :exit:

The New MK V looks nice though:D

I actually laughed out loud when I saw these!

Sorry (not really!) to bring this up again, but I've only just caught up on the thread! :bonk:

Nothing like an Old Nikon head having to reassure himself that nowt is wrong with the gear he has chosen, I guess I would be the same too if I owned such equipment.
