Hi Grayo, I thought I had an AF problem. Turned out the vertical release button was set to on and the palm of my hand was pressing against it. IMO the spring in that button is a little too light. It seemed to get worse the heaver the lens I was using.
Hi Jonathan,
I thought at first this is what was happening as said in a previous post above but with the vertical shutter release button turned off it still happens. Thanks for your thoughts anyway.
sound like something wrong full stop, if the 70-200mm is fine on another body it might be worth sending the 70-200mm off with the d3s for nikon to play with,
Hi Scott,
This latest episode happened while I was using the 300mm f2.8 that I purchased from the forum last week, so it's not only the 70-200mm it's happening with. This was the first time using the D3S since it was returned from Nikon last week but this time it sounded even worse that before, it was like the teeth on a cog missing where they should meet up on another cog and now with the "Errrr" now showing in the top LCD is more of a problem.
