Nikon D3S, 14-24mm f/2.8 headed into space

The D3S and AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED are headed to the International Space Station. Nikon today announced that NASA has purchased eleven of the company's latest 12.05 million image pixel full-frame digital SLR and seven of its superwide zoom for use on the orbiting facility. Nikon indicates that NASA to date has captured over 700,000 pictures in space using Nikon equipment.

not likely, this is nikon pro kit we're talking about :P none of that canon junk *ducks*

or the 11 is in metric and the 7 is in imperial (sorry, hubble telescope joke iirc)

there's already a load of nikon lenses and speedlights etc in their program and on the ISS, 35 lenses on the ISS alone apparently... o_0

I hear they've got an EOS adapter and a Canon 1200mm L for aerial shots of the FA Cup final next year :p

haha, depressing to think that for the cost of that lens, you could buy a chopper and the sigma 500mm 2.8 to do the same with... :P
