I'm new to digital photography, mainly because I was given
a Nikon D3200 as a gift a couple of months back.
It came with an 18-55mm lens and I was looking opinions
on what people think of this camera before I start spending
cash on additional lenses ?

I've only been using a digital camera for about 18 months and for the last 9 months or so the D3200.I'm quite happy with the results but have got a bit carried away with lenses.I should have asked on here first before buying but have bought and sold a few on Ebay until I found what I wanted. An expensive way of doing it but have settled for my current lenses which seem okay for what I want which is fast cars, aircraft and locos.

The camera is fine, will do everything you want and more, so just use it. You'll soon find out if you want/need anything extra. Don't spend money just for the sake of it.
The only thing you might want sooner rather than later is a longer zoom lens, or a macro lens if you decide that's the area you want to go In to. For now, use the kit lens, learn the camera and enjoy shooting.

Thanks Steve, what lenses have you settled on ?
I got hold a cheap Sigma 150-500mm through Ebay (wouldn't auto focus but I took it to Sigma who fixed it for me :) )which seemed okay at Silverstone for the F1 GP and I use either a Nikon 55-300mm or Sigma 18-250mm generally and have got a Sigma 10-20mm for the static shots.

Just have to learn what to do with them now ;)
