Hi

just joined and already looking for help. (bet you get fed up of this)

I have a Nikon D90 camera, remote control, nikon 70-300mm lens and nikon flash.

Apparently there is no longer lens available for the d90 that will autofocus because of the motor location.

I would like to take pictures of birds in my garden or flying about my area and would like a longer lens.

Question are longer lenses available for the D3100 that will autofocus and will the lens I have and the remote and flash be useable with a d3100

Bob

The D90 can use every lens that the D3100 can AND MORE. It's the D3100 that doesn't the in body AF motor.

There's the pricey 400/500/600mm Primes, then there's the Nikon 80-400mm, there's the Sigma 150-500 and 50-500 and some other slightly shorter Sigma lenses.

Ist post and made a complete mess of it.
I have a D40 not d90 (I was looking at a D90 at time of posting)
Sorry.

D3100 is the same situation as the D40 with lenses, neither have the inbody AF motor.

The Sigma 50-500 or 150-500 will AF with the D40 AFAIK and so will all Nikon AF-S lenses.
