I have the battery grip for the Nikon D300 and a couple of enel3e batteries and the 8fps wasn't possible, so tried using 8 AA batteries instead. Yes they boosted the fps speed up to 8fps but they ran out after 100 shots which isn't much use for a photography day out.

Just purchased from Bristol Cameras the MH-21 battery charger,EN- EL4a battery and the bl-3 battery cover cost £255 +£10 postage. Ok not that cheap and heaven knows why the charger costs so much, but the total price was way cheaper than Jessops complete kit (Nikon PDK-1 battery pack at £399 ).

Reading one review a person got 4000 shots (not mentioned camera settings) with the enel4a so hopefully I shall get better shooting frames than the AA batteries.

If any member has this enel4a battery setup I would be most interested to read their thoughts on its power etc.

i have the same on my d300 and find it works really well i have no idea about how many shots as i never count have heard about 4k being done tho .......on a recent trip to scotland i got a full weeks shooting with just the original in the camera and the 4 in the grip settings varied and i didnt use the 8fps much (nice to know its there tho) when you look at the charger compared to the original it is a lot more involved what with conditioning and such ....no idea how much they are as mine comes from my d2xs and although it is a good few years old it is still going strong so i guess that would reflect in the cost as well

I have two non oem grips on 300/700, the batteries(7 day shop ones) literally last me weeks, sometimes over a month.

My enel3e batteries are the genuine ones and fine except I am after the 8fps which you can't get with them

I suppose I wasn`t clear enough...........:D......I`ll try again.

The two no oem grips that I have on my D700`s and D300 both have 7day shop EL4 batteries in them, they will last a helluva longtime. Did a full week and a bit on Mull and in Inverness without needing to recharge them. (lots of shots, all crap.............:bang:......)

Saying that, I don`t chimp a lot and have no in camera wizardry set up........

My word, someone bummed you there seriously.

I bought this to use with the grip on my D700 (same as D300) and the charger plus a battery was under £25 and workd brilliantly for approx 3,000 shots

the one in your link is a third party one and in the link it says

Quote " The battery could not be charged by the original charger (Please use the special Travel Charger in the package).

Remaining power could not be displayed on the camera (Please take care of the using time)." unquote

Yes it may be loads cheaper its not a genuine Nikon product which is what I go for

Fracstar sorry I misunderstood

All it means is dont use an official Nikon battery in this charger, the camera power indicator does work though.

But if you only want Nikon genuine gear then you have no choice i suppose.

Thanks for the update, their web page must be wrong if the camera does show the power indicator
