So I am having trouble understanding what settings to use on my camera with my Studio Lighting. This is the first time I have used my new D300 with my Interfit lighting kit and the photos are not very sharp, I was achieving much better results with my Panasonic FZ50! I know I am doing something wrong, but can anyone tell me what i need to do with my camera? I am still learning!!

Sounds you like you have your camera stuck on A mode which will only look for ambient, so your shutter speed will be too long.

Stick to M mode. D300 flash sync speed is 250th second, so stick your shutter speed to that. Adjust aperture to match the power of the flash.

Dont forget DOF - depth of field.

it may be that the lens is wide open and only has a small in focus depth.

Allways focus on the eyes

post an example....

I have actually deleted them all as they were so bad - sorry! But I have tried using the following settings Manual mode, 125th Sec, f16 White Balance 5560
I seem to be getting a much better result but still not sure if I am doing it right! Can anyone give me any camera exact camera settings to try??

You really need to post an example, no matter how good or bad it is if you need help this is the answer.

AAAAhhhh...

check that you're not on auto-iso. It says on the top screen if you are.

Start out at say ISO 200, 1/200th, f11. Adjust flash power for correct exposure and leave the camera settings alone.

If you don't have enough power in your flash set up just increase ISO and or open up the aperture.
