Hi

does anyone have any simple menu set up instructions for a D3. I'm new not only to this professional type of camera, but also Nikon. (ive only had Sony Alpha until now)

any help or advise would be great!

Thanks

D

Ken Rockwell's user guides are helpful in so much they explain in plain english what does what, may be wise to avoid some of his radical settings (he does like vivid), but it will be easier to follow than the manual.

Buy the Thom Hogan guide.

Real down to earth explainations without the madness and unexplainable trollop KR likes to give out.

That is one massive leap to do, good luck with it. Google is your friend on this one.

Leave it on the default settings till you know what you are doing.

Donna - what menu options stood out on your previous cameras? Were there any specific things that you liked on your Sony that you needed? Maybe that's a good starting point - I'd go down that route first of seeing how to set the D3 up to simulate your Alpha, it's the easiest way TBH.

Personally, I'd trawl the user manual; if it's anything like the one with my D2x then it'll be like War & Peace but the Nikon manuals I've referred to in the past (as with Canon's) have been quite easy to follow.

Congrats on the purchase of a top-end camera - would dearly love a D3 :)

Did the above help the OP?

Annoying when they don't have the manners to come back and say thanks.

I quite agree, just not cricket.:)

A D3 is not a god - it's a tool ! It's just a camera!
