Anyone pre-ordered one yet? :D

I have to say I'm tempted but will need to save up after the wedding next month.

Then again, I really want the D3x so I might wait until next year :)

No, but I have ordered a D300;)

D300 makes more sense than a used D2x imo.

Yep I reckon so, certainly in terms of features. Of course the D2x is more rugged and waterproof, for those that need it :)

Having had a D200 and a D2x I'd now always go for a pro model. I love the fact that it's much more solid. And I never dared carry the D200 around by the vertical grip for fear of it coming off. So it's a D3x for me once it comes out. Especially with Nikon clearly marketing the D3 as a D2H replacement, that means a D2x replacement is also on the way :D

I'm guessing it'll be 16MP+ but 18MP is the max I'd want, it'd mean I could crop and not loose anything over the same crop on the D2x, but with a better SNR which would be perfect.

I think we'll be hanging around to see what the D3X will be.
18mp with a 12mp crop on DX lenses? perfect...
D3 is really hitting into the sports and news sector in a nice way.

On the other hand, a couple of D300's would probably cover us for the majority of work. Lighter for a start, plus packed with most of what the D3 has.

The pricing of the D3 isn't that bad really either. About the same as the intro price of the D2X. We just added a D2Xs and they're not going to get dumped anytime soon. I'm using a Fuji S3 as 2nd cam and my colleague a couple of older Kodak 14n's. So we're really curious to see what'll replace those.

For really large work, we use a Phase1, so the superhigh res that Canon is currently offering, (and possibly Nikon soon) isn't too critical. The autonomy of a DSLR body is welcome though...

Choices choices...

We'll wait and see.
