Yes
I've downloaded F-D3-VD201W.exe from Nikon's website, when I run it I get the normal vista annoying 'continue' dialogue, click continue but nothing happens, I'm unable to extract the 2 files required.

No ideas ?
Anyone fancy downloading the file to see if it works or is corrupt.
Thanks
John

Is that the one with the D2x colour modes?
I couldn't get it to work either...

Just a thought....do you have to download it to a card to install ?...also is it like other Nikon firmware updates A+B where one has to be installed before the other

There's two ways - onto the PC then to the camera via USB lead or using a CF card - I tried both methods and the cameras didn't recognise the file which I had verified was on the card and in the correct folder on the PC...
And no it's not like the 'old' D2x firmware upgrade with A+B files...

Ok Rob, maybe this is way off but can you go into properties and run it as XP instead of Vista, a lot of software and firmware still need XP and not Vista.
Sorry if its not much help

Thought that might be it, but I've just been and looked and it says Vista in the list of compliant OS...

what i did with mine is phone nikon tech support they are very good and talk you through what to do.
i would still be trying to updaste my firmware if it wasnt for them.

Both my bodies have this firmware but I updated way back in February.

Try downloading a trial version of WinZip and see if it can extract the files for you?

The files are probably being put in a /temp folder somewhere.

It's an .exe file not a .zip and I've searched everywhere for the files just in case they were being dumped somewhere. :bang:

Edit, Found them, it created a folder (D3 update) and dumped them in that, had to do an advanced search, feel a total prat now :cuckoo:

I've got the file on my hard drive - it expands to two .bin files (A+B) - one is 513k the other just over 7 meg - if your email box is big enough I can send you the unpacked files. PM me your email address.

Cheers for that, I've now found them.

Great, they had to be somewhere as the files are always decompressed before you see "Continue" type dialogs.

When I got mine from the nikon site the other day (2.01 I think) .exe, just ran it and it extracted to desktop the two bin files.

its a royal pain in the backside
but to be fair the important thing here is follow the instructions to the dot
go to the nikon site follow slowly step by step exactly as it says
i know it sounds dumb but if you do it works
took me a few goes

It is easier than that - you take the camera to Rob, in the Nikon Pro suite, and he does it all for you!

I have absolutely no idea whatever on how to download anything, that includes music - I can't get my ipod to work. I am supposed to have music on my phone, but I can't work that out either - so you have my sympathy with trying to get things out of these blasted confusers that are taking over our lives!

Nikon give very precise instructions - follow them exactly and it just works.
