Very kindly gifted a D3 by my father in law, picked up the 50mm af-s from mbp and now I need a battery, the original still works but I'm assuming it doesnt hold enough charge for a full day

Anyone know a good place to buy third party or have experience as all the ones on ebay, amazon and onlines shops are around £30 and you just dont know if they will be fine or burn my house down

Cheers!

When I bought mine from MPB it came with a VHBW battery which obviously isn't a genuine item. It seems to work ok though so I'd get another one if it dies at some stage down the line. That being said, I've read that some non genuine batteries don't work very well with either the charger or camera (was more likely the charger I think ).

Cool thanks! Ordered one on Wex so see how long till back in stock!

For anyones future reference

Grays of Westminster informed me these are now discontinued
Wex disagree and have had no word from their Nikon supplier and will keep the order open for now

Is that 10 / 100 / 500 images ?

If Grays say it's discontinued, I'd be inclined to believe them. Second hand ones seem to be fairly far along in their service lives now, and I'm dubious about buying 'Genuine' online as fake batteries are definitely a thing.

My D3 battery experience is the original batteries degrade over time a bit too quickly (my ENEL15s on my current cameras are much better in this regard), but 3rd party batteries don't hold their charge as well (fewer shots) and degrade faster...

Wex finally fulfilled my order back from Febuary, it seems their supplier still has some OEM Nikon batteries, they are out of stock on the site but may be worth ringing up for anyone who needs one before they go forever!
