I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I was wondering if anyone has been on a Nikon Course in Kingston. I have just got a D3 and was considering going on their D3 course, I have read that these courses can be quite basic so was hoping that someone who has been on one of these courses would be able to let me know if someone who understands about Aperture/Shutter speed etc would be able to benefit from this course.

Thank you.

I've done a couple of the courses run by John Clements - I think they are the same as the one's running in Kingston. I thought that they were pretty good and worth attending.

I hope the courses are OK. I've just had confirmation of my booking on D300 course in Leeds.

Has anyone else done a Nikon course?

Hi Caropd,

I did one when I had my D40 last year. It was a 'get to know your camera' type course (looking at the menu's etc..) and I found it really useful, it was very much aimed at beginners though. The chap who was teaching was very friendly and helpful.

I suspect with the D3 it'll be aimed at a higher level and will help you to get the most out of the various settings on the camera.

I did a CLS course in Kingston a couple of years ago. Was useful so no complaints about the quality of their training. They should be able to send you an overview of topics covered before you book

Thanks for the replies, good idea Hugh, I will get an overview of the course before I book.

For £20 you can buy a book that will tell you (for evermore) the same as the course will.

Have you looked for on-line tutorials about the D3 ? There are several and they will also give you 80% of the course or more, again for a lot less than your travel and the course fee.

I have attended several and I was able to provide more input than the so called lecturers.

Attended at D40 course with Nikon Kingston that John Clements led when I got my D40 - my first DSLR, it was very good to do a course dedicated to using your own camera rather than generic courses on 'your DSLR'
Also got chance to try ouy some extra lenses.
A good day:)

I did the D40 course with John Clements, personally it was too basic, but was good for the rest of the class I think!

But buying the book or online doesn't give you the interaction, chance to ask questions and networking a course does. There's a place for both

If you're on a course you know more then the trainer you're on the wrong course
