Until a few weeks back I was looking at buying either Nikon P7100, Canon G12, Fuji X10, Panny LX5 or Olympus XZ-1.
In my case the X10 won and it is early days but am delighted with it but the X10 thread on this forum helped me make my mind up. I felt the technology was more recent, the camera looks good and ..... well I could go on but will resist
If you really want the 7100 the Amazon price does look good unless any cashbacks suddenly appear.
I've been reading about the X10 and would have been interested - but it has issues which put me off to be honest.
Would prefer a variangle screen too, but there's about £100 difference between the P7000 and P7100, so .......
I bought a P7100 from Amazon in January. Their price was the best at the time for a UK based supplier. I did consider the Canon G12 but as my other equipment is all Nikon I decided to stick with the brand. I have been highly delighted with the P7100 which does everything I want and I now find that on a day to day basis I rarely use anything else. The only area which I was disappointed with was the internal flash which is very low power. I tried using my SB900 which worked fine but which is far too bulky for the camera so I bought an SB400 (from Jessops who were only about £5 dearer than Amazon but had one on the shelf locally). The SB400 is a much better match for day to day use on the P7100.
I bought a Fuji X10 but there is something about it I am not entirely happy with. Silly things like having to take off a lens cap (will lose it one day) & needing your left hand for zoom/turn on & off function. But even bigger not having the moving LCD like the G12 & P7100.
So thinking of selling X10 but very very very sensitive as to what next
A mate at work bought the Fuji X10 and the first impression was wow. i have used the Canon G11 and G12 and was thoroughly impressed by the Fuji X10. Deciding to buy a Fuji X100 now...
