Hi there,

First post, I have tried researching and have some good info already.

I'm an amateur photog, shoot fashion and assist another photographer on high fashion shoots. I purchased a Lencarta ElitePro twin head studio kit just a few months ago but have really struggled with finding places to shoot, turns out the rooms in my house really arent adequate in size to utilise the set up...

I now more recently have access to studio time which is a fantastic bonus, so my barely used Lencarta kit is going to go, well, there-in lies my dilemma.

For location shoots...shall I keep the kit and use an external power source, or switch to the nikon creative lighting system, which is gonna be a million times easier to transport, hold, deal with..?

CLS easy to pick up? I shoot with a D200 by the way

Any input greatly appreciated :)

For anything living that has eyes, skip the CLS. All of the flashing makes people and pets squint. It's great for everything else.

Oh really?? I have a McNally book on the CLS system, think it's called bright light from small flashes or something similar..didnt mention anything like that in there....oh b****r...thats turned everything on its head then!!

I used CLS for portraits and never had a problem with people squinting. I'd recommend it, not too complicated to pick up and worth it. Once you have it sorted it's just so easy and versatile.

I used it all day today and not one squint. Gutted.

Seriously ***, once you get into it it's easy enough on the d200. Best to turn the built in flash to -- and change the group a and b to ttl or manual depending what you want to do. Pop up the built in flash. set your speedlight to remote and play...

I exclusively use CLS for my work (when with people) and with an SU-800 there is no squinting.. just don't expect Pocket Wizard reliability outside.. oh when will you bring out your Flex TTL for Nikon... damn you pocket wizard, damn you!!!! ;)
