Absolutely.

You should be able to tell the camera what the wide open F stop is.

I use my old 85mm F2 AI-S on the D800 just fine.
 
What DSLR ? , Some Nikon's can be told what lens it is :nikon:
 
look in the set-up menu on the camera - (the spanner or wrench) - there is a facility to register, (and set-up) non-CPU lenses

Good luck with the 1,2, the DOF is really shallow - but you can use the "green square" or green dot to confirm manual focus

Even with the green square, getting the exact plane of focus you want at f/1.2 is bloody hard! The camera might well decide that it's focussed correctly but when you look at the final result, it's got the eyelashes spot on but the eyes just OOF.
 
I managed to get a lens relatively cheap off the Bay, but its just for fun really. I bought it for my film camera, but curious to see how it performs on a DSLR too.
 
IT will perform as well on the DSLR as it does on any body, it's the focusser that's the weak link in the chain. Older film bodies (pre AF) generally have much brighter focus screens along with focus aids so are easier to focus manually on than modern bodies. Having said all the above, when you get it right, it can be very effective (although I'd never recommend it as a portrait lens wide open.)
