Anyone got any feedback on this lens? I'm looking for a lens for some fast powerboat stuff and maybe some wildlife stuff e.g birds. This will be my first look at buying a lens so just making sure it's what I'm after.

I bought one of these a little while ago and can't get over how good it is :D

Not used it on anything fast moving yet but for birds, etc., it's great. AF is pretty fast, VR settles quickly and is rock steady even at max zoom.

Here's a Robin I shot when using it for only the second time.

It's good to hear that the lens seems to be of a high standard. I'm not sure the best place to buy. I think I have seen it at Jessops. I will head over there later to have a look.

A very good lens, I loved mine and only sold to get the 70-200 VR

As has been said buy one they are great.

Despite what Nikon say they also take the Kenko Pro3001.4x TC - although you do need good light to make the ebst of the combo such as this;

I'd forgotten about the Kenko 1.4TC ... they work really well together :thumbs:
 
I love mine, highly recommended. Took it to Silverstone last year for F1 practice and found it ideal.

Had mine for about 3 years and love it. I use it for airshows, wildlife and candids. Probably gets more use than any of my other lenses.

It's a good cheap lens. I don't own one but one of my mate does. For me the sharpest point at 300mm is on f8. One of the best economical kena I must say!
