Nikon AF-S 18-300MM lens

Bought this lens new a couple of weeks ago. I am finding that if I take photos at around 70mm and then hold the camera downwards (as I'm checking the screen), the lens 'creeps', so that when I put it up to my eye again it is around the 120mm mark. Is this normal for this lens or have I a faulty one?

Not faulty, it's common on a lot of lenses. Just put a thick elastic band around the lens if you need to point it up or down.
