Further to my comments regarding the 80 - 200mm Nikon Lens. Looking through the for sales of these I notice some are listed as 1 -touch and some as 2 -touch.
Is the 1-touch older than the 2-touch or the other way around.

What does this mean and what would be the best to get.

Why 2 threads? 2 touch is newer, more expensive, faster AF.

2 touch has 2 seperate rings for focus and zoom. 1 touch (which I actually like) uses just the 1 ring for focus & zoom, by turning, then sliding forward & backwards.

Just to really confuse things ... there is also an AF-S version as well ;)

The one touch is also sometimes called the push/pull version.

still after one of the newer versions of this, anyone know how much the AFS version tends to go for used?

I have seen them between 6-700 when available.Aperture has one at 690 but no tripod collar and marks on front element..tbh I would save another couple of hundred and get the vr if you need the afs..if not you wont go wrong with the afd 2 ring

:shrug:Its apparently a tad sharper wide open, bigger heavier! Also have been issues with the afs motors in them from what I have read.

As said in the other thread I've got the AF-S version as a few premier league pros told me this was the one to go for. Focusing is as fast as my 24-70mm and quality is excellent. I paid £800 from Calumet second hand for mine and it came with the old style lovely hard case :)
