Guys, i have been looking at ebay and found a new Nikon 80-200 f2.8 ( AFD or AF-S )lens but its in Hong Kong. Anyone know vwhere to get a good price on one in the UK as i would rather have a decent warranty and peace of mind if the cost wasnt to much. If not then i would buy from abroad or even a mint sencod hand one depending on the price.

I have one of these.

Sell your house if you have to, but buy the lens. It's gorgeous!!

Yeah mate, i think i have read every review available.Just got my Nikon 300 f4 through on Tues and my god is it heavy but just tinkering with it makes me want to get out there. I think the 80-200 would sit well with it in my bag.

My other option would be the Sima 70-200 f2.8 but the reviews of the Nikon have made this my first option and the Sigma second.

There's a big difference in price between an AF-D and an AF-S. The AF-S is no longer made, having been replaced by the 70-200 VR, but it still commands a good price secondhand.

Personally I'd go far the AF-D, if you can stretch to £900 or so for a secondhand AF-S then you'd be as well buying a 70-200 VR. Faced with the choice between a Sigma or a Nikon, even if the Nikon was a bit more expensive I'd plump for that every time.

Have you considered the new Tamron 70-200, supposed to be superb optically?
