Nikon 70-300mm VR £303 new

In fact the website says 20% off the marked price so that makes it £243. That's going to be my negotiating start point when I go and collect it tomorrow.

Think your maths are a bit out there, even with 20% off its still over 300 quid going on the web price of £379.99, reckon the OP has already taken the discount off

Yesterday the marked price was showing as £303.99 i.e. 20% off £379.99. However it had next to it a blue cross which when clicked said 20% off marked price - hence the £243.19. In fact PC World were showing that price on some of their screens (no stock though)N. ot convinced I'll get it but there's no harm in trying. I've even taken copies of the webpages as evidence. I'll let you know later how I get on. At worst I pay £303.99 which is still a bargain.

Good Luck, hope you get yourself a double bargain  - however Advert or not the advertised price is only an 'invitation to treat' and they are not legally bound to offer that to you 'if' it is indeed a mistake.

I just did the 100 mile round trip to Norwich to collect mine today (£303.99). The downside is that it doesn't fit in my LowePro TLZ bag so the savings I made will have to go towards a new bag (as well as paying for the fuel!) :)

Oh yeah, and it's quite a heavy piece of glass too!

Less of a journey (<10 miles) for me. Unfortunately I couldn't persuade the store manager that I should pay even less. It's now in the hands of their head office after I quoted OFT rules re: misleading advertising. Still as I said above £303.99 is a really good price anyway.

Anyway the lens is now packed for tomorrow's photo trip to the coast. Bad news is that I'm at work and it's my wife that will have fun with the new toy

Update on the purchase:

I made my case at the store with no luck. I made my case over the phone to customer services with no luck. I sent an email to customer services quoting the relevant sections of the Sale of Goods Act and the Consumer Credit Act.......RESULT :thumbs::thumbs:

Currys have now credited the £60 difference back to me so I got the lens for the £243 they were advertising. Good for them for admitting it and in the end with little fuss.
