You have struck lucky with the right time to buy. There is a cashback offer on Nikon lenses atm till the end of the month. I got the Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f4.5-5.6E ED VR Lens for £519 and then got £90 cashback off Nikon. This was a lens that was close to £700 a couple of month ago, so to get it for £429 was a great deal. :D

If you buy, wherever you order from, make sure they are one on Nikon's approved vendor list. (via the link above) And also make sure wherever you order has stock too. Stocks are low because of their cashback offers atm.

I phoned one retailer before I ordered online to check they had stock, and they said they did, only to get an email a couple of hours later after ordering saying that they didn't. I then phoned Clifton cameras and asked again whether they had stock, and after telling the chap my experience with the previous shop, he went and checked in the storeroom while I waited on the phone to confirm they had it. So I can recommend their customer service. :)

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, are you considering a FX and DX, or one or the other?

Just bought it myself, £519 from amazon UK and got my £90 cash back last week making it £429.

I think the cash back runs out this month.

The DX version is only about £150 on eBay (grey version).
It is a great lens for the money very sharp and quick to focus, I use one on my D500 no problem.
Good for video as well as it is very quiet in operation.

Is it that much better than the FF G VR?
The AF-S one? The AF-P one is noticeably sharper imo, AF is really quiet, but how much faster it is I can’t remember.
