Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR

Hey guys, considering upgrading from my sigma 70-200mm f2.8 to a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR for when I come back to the UK and start doing my football photography again. My question is will VR be effective for sports photography?

Yes - it helps you with your camera shake issues, but you still need a high enough shutter speed to freeze (if that's the intention) the footie players

I've got one, and it's surprisingly big & heavy - still, bigger biceps make the girls happy eh?
