Nikon 70-200 f2.8gII with sigma TC-1401

Having just tried the above combination on my d750 I am somewhat confused. The combination seems to work perfectly but my confusion comes because I still have a maximum aperture of f2.8 even with the tc fitted ?? Any ideas or am I missing something as I would have expected to lose a stop of light.

Thanks mark I did wonder if this was the case, the thing that threw me my old sigma tc didn't do this it showed a reduced apeture reading. To be fair it's not a combination I will be using but was just curious to try it.

Will need to try mine as i have an old one but always thought they never showed the correct aperture but i may be wrong. Might need to buy a new Sigma tc as my current one has a worn mount but will try it this week to see what it does on a 70-200 vr 11

Cheers mark, shame your not local or you could have tried my tc on your lens to see if it worked. I brought it in a bundle with a 150-600 sport and this is the first time I'd tried it on anything else

Sigma themselves have said it wont work on mine so im sending the tc off for new mounts to be fitted.
