No
Prefer the primes for studio/portrait work (indoors), but the 85/1.4's focus distance is too long for close up head shots (perfect for everything else mind you).

I have the 70-200/2.8, which obviously covers the 135 range, and it's very sharp indeed - great lens.

Read some very positive reports on the 135/2 however stating that it has a habit of smoothing skin while keeping sharpness.

Anyone got experience with both lenses?

I dont have any experience of the 135 lens but if you do get one and sell the 70-200, can I have first dibs on it please? :)

It's a rare site, seeing a thread mentioning this specific lens (135/2 DC, or the lesser 105/2 DC).

I've had my eyes on one for a while, but seems like I will have to hold off on getting one for a while.

I've been following a thread on Nikon Cafe where many with this lens have been posting pictures with this very lens. It is a beauty, especially for portraits.

Sorry, but that's all I can say about it.

Here is the thread I was talking about at Nikon Cafe.

Glad to be of help :)

Personally, for the saving of £100 I was tempted to go with the 135; but of course it is all dependent on how much working distance & space you have, and which body you're using it on

Had I had the D300, or any other cropped-sensor body, then I would have gone for the 100; but with the D700 I'd much rather have the extra reach and adjust otherwise with my feet :)

Yeah, 135 was my original choice on full frame D700 (would compliment my 85/1.4 better too), however a few reports mention the 105 is 'better'. Hard to quantify in most cases though - will demo both of them.

Once you decide on whichever you go with, please let us know how it turns out. Most importantly, if you find a bargain on a couple :) .. please keep me in mind.
