my 600f4 has has a sort of sqeak or rubbing noise now for a while when i turn the foot to the top position or vice versa. It feels like it beeds a grease. Anyone know what its like under the foot colar that allows the lens to spin into portrait mode etc as im not sure why its causing the noise? Any in depth diagrams showing the foot and colar etc?

Is yours the very latest model Mark

The new versions have ball bearings in them. Yours has Teflon blocks I believe. Nikon did offer a conversion from the blocks to bearings on some lenses although I don't know if yours was one of them. I know a chap who had the blocks replaced with new ones. He can't remember the exact price but said it wasn't silly money. Might be worth giving them a ring.
