Nikon 55-300mm ideal Telephoto Lens?

Looking for a good budget Telephoto lens for some sports photography. f4.5-5.6

(Finally got my first job as a photographer for a youth football club - bear in mind I'm a student so I can't work ALOT), and I have permission to take and sell photo's of the kids playing. - CRB Checked already.

Is this lens worth the £200 it'll cost me, or should I invest in a Sigma lens, which I'll eventually sell when I can afford a branded high quality one.
 
i cant say much about the 55-300 but i have used the nikon 70-300 vr for shooting local football.it wasnt too bad andi got some nice pictures.you can pick them up used on here for around £200. other than that a sigma 70-200 f2.8 be ideal but much more than your budget. there is also the sigma 100-300 f4 but again a little over your budget and also rarely seen available.
