which one should i go for?PLEASE:help:

well i must say there platform isnt very helping lol any way..finger crossed

What are you wanting to use it for?

Landscapes, portraits, wildlife, sports etc etc etc??.

I cant comment on the 18-135mm but i can say that i wasn't too pleased with the 55-200mm i had, it just never seemed to produce sharp pictures, i didn't end up keeping it for long so cant comment much more than to say i wouldn't recommend one.

I have used both with my D80 and both a good. For portrait use it depends on the space you have to play with. Out doors I used the 55-200 and in doors the 18-135.

If just for indoor portraits have a look at the 50mm f1.8 afs, the cheaper and will not auto focus on your body.

I have the 55-200mm and more recently an 18-105mm. I have to admit I've hardly used the 55-200mm as I tend to photograph people and objects fairly close up. Quality-wise I've not found any problems with the longer lens but my suggestion would be go for 18-135mm! :)

Bear in mind that the 18-135 doesn't have VR so if you are a bit 'shaky' you won't get sharp results. It's no longer available new either as far as I know.

Good spot Al, and the 18-105mm does come with VR which saves many of my shots from my shaky pensioner hands lol

I've just cobbled together a 'mini monopod' to tuck into a belt pouch to help support my 55-300. Does the job admirably too. :)
