Nikon 55-200 Any good?

ive got a Nikon D40 and currently im looking at getting a new lens.

i understand that i have to get a lens with a motor in it (something along them lines anyway )

im thinking of the Nikon 55-200, has anyone ever used one and what do they think.

what about the 3rd party lenses anyone used them , sigma 55-200 , tamron 55-200
 
I got the VR version couple days ago, I only had a quick go with it last night in lowish light, my first VR lens and was rather impressed, got sharp pics at lower shutter speeds than I ever have hand held, looking forward to giving it a good go at weekend.
 
Really really good lens, you can get the VR one new for about £130, and used for £115 no problem.
 
i have the 55-200mm vr on my d40 and it works a treat for the price i dont think it can be beaten really

Yep, really good lens. I got mine at xmas and use it all the time. :thumbs: :thumbs:
