nikon 50mm lens

i will soon be on the hunt for a 50mm lens for my D90 but not sure which one to go for,AF-S f/1.4g, AF f/1.4D, AF f/1.8D:shrug:

any help would be much appreciated

As I am selling the G version in the forum I would say that one!!!

Have to admit the 1.8 is great value - although lenses are never sharpest wide open, so in theory the 1.4s should be sharper at 1.8 or 2.0 than the 1.8 would be. Focussing is bit faster too with the G version.

I've got this plus am trying to decide on 35mm or 50mm!

Will be borrowing a friend's 50mm 1.4D to try for a week to see what I think - hopefully help me decide on focal length.

If you don't mind third party, Sigma 50/1.4 does magic things when shooting people between 1.4 and 2.8. Otherwise from all Nikon options I like mostly the 50/1.2 AIS. Gives really stunning results at f2. I hope one day Nikon will make its AF-S version.
