Is this lens ok to use with a 10 stop ND filter if so what's the best filter for it please? I fancy having a go at seascapes and waterfalls.

I can't see a reason it isn't. The only problem may be 50mm isn't very wide so it will be difficult to get vast expanses of sky in for cloud movement. That said I was use a zoom lens at 85mm with a 10 stop filter this week. It was an image of a post sticking out of the sea so a very minimalist feel.

Regarding a 10 stop filter it depends on whether you want a screw on or square (a separate holder is needed for square filters). If going circular think about getting one that nigger than you need now and get a step up ring to fit it to the 50mm lens. Something like a 77mm filter would future proof most future lens purchases. Budget is the key thing, very good 10 stops like hitech firecrests are about £70-80 for a 77mm screw in filter. You can get cheaper filters on eBay and depending on what you want to do in the future you could get a 'trial' screw in filter for the 50mm lens (52mm thread if I remember correctly) and not pay as much.
