Yes
My 50 has suddenly stopped working, I believe it to be an electronic error communicating with the camera.

The problem is, when I connect it with the camera, it gives an aperature error, it blinks FEE on and off.

I've tested every manual config with the aperature and blades but the error is persistant.

Anyone got any ideas what is wrong? I really need this lens for a shoot tomorrow.

Colin.

A pencil eraser is pretty good for cleaning the electrical contacts.

Are you certain it's the lens??

Have you tried a different lens on the body??

If you are stil getting 'Err', try removing the battery. If this doesn't work, re-boot the camera to factory spec.

Good luck.

It's diffenately the lens, tried several lenses and the 50 was the only one giving problems. Also tried it on a different body, same thing. :(

Will give it a clean and have another play with it...

Try changing the body...maybe a canon, then change the lens also canon, that should cure it.....

...sorry, i'll get my coat.

have you checked the manual aperture ring is still locked in place, if you move it it may not like it. Think you need to lock it at F22

If its not hard to F22 and locked in place it dosnt take much to make the camera have a hissy at you. (well with mine anyway)

Yep I had had that problem once before, so I knew about that already. This time it is different, it is locked at F22 when I attach it. Still the same problem occurs. :(

BUMP!

I have just worked out the problem! Now I need to know how to fix it!

It seems to be a mechanical fault with the latch for opening the aperature. When attached to the lens, I believe this latch should open the aperature blades and then the camera should take over. Well this isn't the case, and what causes me to get the FEE error. If I manually push this latch down then the lens works as it should do...

Any opinions on how to fix this or should I just send it in to Nikon?

Sorry, is the problem with the latch on the lens that moves the apperture blades? or is it the arm on the camera body that moves the latch on the lens?

I assume from what you are saying that the problem is deffo lens side... Either way I would imagin sending it back to Nikon will solve the problem. :)
