Picked up this little gem from Jessops today and thought I would pop up a test shot to show it's sharpness. I did do a little PP in Lightrom but not much at all.

Although focusing is a little slow it still produces the goodies.

Nice shot... and enjoy the lens. I really ought to get out and about a bit more with this lens, but everything I've taken with it I've been happy with so far - don't regret the purchase one bit - in fact its a bit of a bargain!

I really like the look of these, compared to the 18-55 kit lens how close can you get to subjects and still get focus?

I take it the focus ring is easier to use then on the 18-55.

Great shot, I must say my 35mm has hardly been off the camera since I got it. :)

loved my 35mm..moreso than my current 50mm and kinda regret selling it but if I didn't I would have a D90. It's a real gem

Just caught this. It was here and gone within 10 mins so lucky i had the camera to hand!

I've just bought one, not had chance to properly try it but looks a stunner. Bargain really

Had one for a few months now was my first lens after the kit lens and i love it for the money it cost. Like opening it right up to f1.8 and getting a nice shallow DOF making the subject really stand out.

Kinda digging this up from the depths, but I'm going to be getting this lens this week fingers crossed. Really looking forward to it. Hopefully it will improve the quality and technique of my shots especially portraits I've been dabbling in recently :D

I love this lens, great performance in low light and also lovely and sharp with nice bokeh if that's what your after.
One I took of my sister's cat:

I know this isn't the same lens but I'm after the Sony 35mm f1.8 which is very similar to the Nikon version. They look like awesome lenses for little money, I wonder if Canon are going to remake their 35mm f2 and update it.

I also bought this lens however, and I'm not sure how, everytime I go to use it I always find it attached to my wife's D5000. I think I've lost it!!:D

I've just ordered this lens from Jessops and having looked at the pics above I know I have made the right choice!

I hope so, its a 20 year old design! Jessops have reduced their price for the Canon version twice in the last few months, its £195 now with the discount code. I'm very tempted to get it but they might be reducing the price to make way for a new version.

I'm finally picking one of these in the next few days.

Would owners of this lens recommend stopping down to f2.8 or even f4? Some of the reviews I've read say there are problems with CA and softness at f1.8.

Must agree with above, I love mine. So fast to focus and sharp, never lets me down, some really good photos with this lens.

Kev - I generally stop down to f/2.2 - 2.8 but do shoot at 1.8 and don't notice much difference. Its cracking all round I find!

Could someone help me out? I'm confused when it comes to macro lens. Would this lens do the job? I have a nikon d5000

This lens isn't a macro lens, it just enables you to shoot better in low light conditions.

Could you recommend a good macro to fit my nikon? Thanks!

It's prob best to start a new thread under 'Talk Equipment' you're likely to get more detailed replies that way.
