Hi everyone thinking of getting my self one of these...used a mates the othere day and WOW loved it .....what you all think is it a good lens to have in my kit

Yep it is the one I have on my D80 and love it. Go for it.

Used to have this before going FX - loved it - GREAT lens!

Great lens. Brings out beautiful bokeh. Very sharp. U won't regret buying it.

What camera do you have?
As the cheaper 50mm f1.8 is also very very good. But requires a body with a motor such as a d90.

I dropped mine on the floor today. I hope it's ok.
...some time later...
Phew. Seems to be fine :)

It is on my list as well, together with Sigma 10-20mm. Although i don't have a camera with built in focus motor, i'm absolutely in love with my 50mm and 28mm (although it take some time to get used to and perfect manual focus).

They do 2 different versions of the 1.8, one with an autofocus motor (around £170) and one without (older model).

I've got the 35mm 1.8F G version on my D3100.

The older version is f/2 and not f/1.8 but more importantly also a fx lens

its a nice lens for sure I bought one recently:)

I am a massive fan of this lens. Had it for about a year now and I treat it as my walkaround lens, its pretty much permanently attached to my camera. I find its great for just about everything I need, but particularly excels in low light situations (eg. indoors, in the evening, under artificial lights, etc). Highly recommend it, and its available at a really good price too.

I've just ordered this Lens for my D3000, will be here Friday so have the weekend to play.

Everyone says its a very good lens. Cannot wait.

Kev

You definitely won't regret it. Since getting mine in early december it has been the only lens on my camera. I love it. It's nice to use your feet as the zoom. It will make you think more about what your composition.

I need to get one again. Sold it a month back, desperately need it back - I've had to use the 85mm 1.8 and it's too long for me!

Lovely lens I have it on my D80 all the time.

£159.99 at Jessops with free delivery ATM.
