When I bought my Nikon, I read the thing on the box that said 'register for 2 year warranty'.
I've not done this yet - I've had my D40 about 6 weeks now I think, is it i) worth it (will I get warranty for 2 years with proof of purchase) and ii) is it too late?

Best to register it, although the warranty company, Homeserve are useless - they registered my D300 as a D200 and the purchase date as 3 months before the D300 came out. I phoned them up and told them, but that was a 8 months ago (took them 8 months to send the paperwork) and they still haven't sent the new docs out

I thought it's written somewhere that it needs to be registered within four weeks of purchase. I registered mine over a year and still no paperwork. Remember, you need to make sure you tick a specific box in the subscriptions list to activate the added warranty.

i registered on-line 2 days after receiving my D90 (50th birthday present) but never received anything after 10 weeks.

i rang homeserve chasing the docs but they had no record of my on-line registration, but they registed me over the phone(you will need the serial number) and i recived the docs within 7 days.

so its not to late to sign up

thanks

jim
